Water Baby

We’ve been taking Miss Lila in the pool in the hopes to turn her into a future Olympic swimmer.  We’ve “swam” a couple times in our condo’s pool with our Mommy and Me buddies and one time at Grammie and Papi’s.  I think the water temperature might be a bit too cold for Miss Lila.  We expected her to kick and splash like she does in the bath tub, but instead she holds tight to mommy and daddy and sucks her thumb.  We’ll get her acclimated to the temperature soon enough and then she’ll be swimming circles around us!  Here are some pictures of our “Little Mermaid”.

5 Months Old

Where does the time go???  Miss Lila turned 5 months old on July 1st.  That night, we went to dinner to celebrate Papi’s 61st birthday.  I think Papi had a great time celebrating with his “girls”.  Both Miss Lila and Miss Chelsea made it out for the night.

On July 2nd we drove up to San Luis Obispo to visit with our friends Ryan and Jill.  Big Daddy Buck and Ryan, Lila’s boyfriend, played golf on the 3rd.  Miss Lila was ready to cheer on her daddy!

On Friday, when Big Daddy Buck and Boyfriend Ryan played golf, Miss Lila and Mommy strolled around downtown San Luis Obispo.  We had a fun girls day out!

On Friday night we joined our friends for Concerts in the Park.  We ate on the patio of the Native Lounge and enjoyed some delicious food!  Mama Buck was able to enjoy some delicious wine as well – while “hooter-hiding” it!

On the 4th of July, we had a yummy breakfast at the Madonna Inn with our friends before heading home.  Here are some pics of our Patriotic Princess!

Father’s Day

We celebrated Big Daddy Buck’s first Father’s Day with a quiet morning and a fun BBQ at Grammie and Papi’s house.    Big Daddy Buck got to sleep in……not too sure how that’s different than any other weekend…..breakfast in bed, and he got some gifts.  Miss Lila got Daddy a deck of playing cards with her cute picture on them.

Here’s what’s on the cards:

Mama Buck got Big Daddy Buck a new wallet.  He needs one big enough to carry around pictures of his girls, as well as his poker winnings…..before I get a hold of it and spend it!!!

Aquarium

Lila and I visited the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific today!  My first grade class took a field trip there so we decided to tag along.  Miss Lila was fascinated by the fish.  Especially the ones that are different colored.  After our aquarium visit, we walked a bit around the harbor.  We saw the Queen Mary from across the bay.  Be sure to click on the FLICKR link to the right of this post to check out a video of Miss Lila “talking” to the fishies!!!

Introducing….

… Miss Chelsea AnnP6051773

Uncle Buck, Auntie Kim and Cousin Lila are excited to welcome the newest member to our family!!  Auntie Alison gave birth to Miss Chelsea on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 4:12 p.m.  Miss Chelsea weighed in at 7 lbs 6 ozs and is 19 in long.  Chelsea arrived with all 10 fingers and all 10 toes and is just as cute as can be!  It’s amazing how quickly you forget how tiny newborns are.  Miss Chelsea is half the weight Miss Lila is right now.  Although she arrived 10 days early, she and mommy are doing well.  Both are healthy and enjoying getting to know one another.

4 Months

I can’t believe my baby girl is 4 months old already!  We had our 4 month checkup and shots yesterday.  Miss Lila weighs in at 14 lbs 2.8 ozs and 25 in long.  We talked to our pediatrician about starting her on rice cereal.  She now has rice cereal in the morning and evening.  The spoon will take some getting used to.

Miss Lila slept in her own room last night.  You’d think we would get more sleep having her not in our room anymore, however I think we got less.  We were too busy staring at our video monitor!  Miss Lila is also finished being swaddled.  When she kept busting out of her Miracle blanket, we took that as a hint that it was time to transition to her sleep sack.  Miss Lila is now not too sure what to do with her hands while she sleeps.  For the time being, she’s decided to take after her mama…sucking thumb

Miss Lila is still working on her tummy time and having a blast in her jumperoo!tummy time

Memorial Day Weekend

We enjoyed some fun, family time this Memorial Day weekend.  On Friday, Big Daddy Buck walked with us to Stroller Strides.  He went for a run while Miss Lila and I worked out.  After, we walked the beach, got some Starbucks, Jamba Juice and groceries and headed home.  Stroller Strides has become much more fun now that we have our new wheels! Check ‘em out:

On Sunday we headed down to Hermosa Beach for Fiesta Hermosa.  Fiesta Hermosa is a large street fair down at the pier.  There are lots of vendors selling many different things from clothes to jewelry to electronics to furniture.  They also have lots of yummy food.

Baptism

IMG_0088

Miss Lila Rose was baptized this past Sunday at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo.  My Uncle Bill and Cherie are her Godparents.  We were joined by our wonderful family and friends.  The day was such a special day.  We definitely felt lots of love from everyone for Miss Lila.  She looked like such an angel!  She wore the baptismal gown that my sister and I wore when we were baptized and the bonnet that Big Daddy Buck wore when he was baptized.  After the ceremony, we celebrated back at our tiny home with some yummy food and drink.  Here are some pictures from Lila’s special day:

Living it up in Bean Town

Big Daddy Buck here.  Last week was a great week.  I flew to Boston to see my good friends Ryan and Jill, met Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots (I’ll come back to this later) and won the 2008 Raytheon Six Sigma award.  You are probably asking what is the Six Sigma award?  The Six Sigma award is presented each year to teams that complete projects that “provided substantial and measurable results and impact for Raytheon’s businesses, customers and supplier” – (Mark E. Russell, VP of Engineering).

That probably doesn’t help you much either.  We were 1 of 12 teams nominated and flown to Boston for the awards celebration.   The awards dinner was held in the Hall at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.  Raytheon sponsors the “Hall at Patriot Place”.  Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots came up to say hello to the the nominees.  For dinner we had surf and turf.  Let me tell you, the surf (lobster) was excellent.  I enjoy getting lobster when I go to Boston, but it always tastes just a little bit better when it is free.  After dinner the awards celebration began.  Each team was presented their “Presidential Award” from their respective business area President and after those were finished came the CEO award winner.  There were actually 5 teams that received CEO awards that evening.  My team was the second team that received an award.  As I stated before it was an honor just to be nominated, but as you probably can tell it was great to win.  My team worked so hard to improve our program which did lead to the program winning a new future contract from our customer.
